Here's what we did last weekend: We practiced trailer loading with the horses. They have been in the trailer many times, but we still take time to practice every once in a while. This is when we place the trailer hooked up to the truck on our field. We practice not only the loading, but the standing in the trailer <patiently, preferably> and the unloading.
Why do Link and Rollie get trailer training? We always say to them: "This might save your life one day!" Speaking from experience, as we live near forests in a dry area, it's good for horses to load easily into a trailer! Being able to load the horses and trailer them in a heartbeat could literally save their life!
Here are some pictures of the event.
